Food Bank

The Food Bank provides emergency assistance to low-income families who fall short of food during the month. It also provides food for those that have recently moved into town for employment and don’t have the means to buy groceries.

Bonnyville Food Bank

Criteria for Accessing the Food Bank

  • Photo ID
  • Alberta Health Care Card for each child under 18 in your household
  • Clients eligible for the Food Bank must live in the Town of Bonnyville or part of the MD of Bonnyville which includes Ardmore, Fort Kent, LaCorey, Iron River, Muriel Lake, Moose Lake and Glendon
  • Personal information will be photocopied and kept in your file. You will need to update us if there are any changes. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
  • Proof of residence: A rent receipt or utility bill with your physical address on it.

Guidelines

  • Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between 9:00 am – 11:30 am & 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. By appointment only. Please call 780-826-3374
  • Alberta Health Care Card for each child under 18 in your household
  • Clients eligible for the Food Bank must live in the Town of Bonnyville or part of the MD of Bonnyville which includes Ardmore, Fort Kent, LaCorey, Iron River, Muriel Lake, Moose Lake and Glendon
  • Only 1 hamper per household: this means everyone living in the house, including roommates.
  • Clients who have accessed the Food Bank for 3 months or more will be asked to do a mandatory budget review. This will help us better understand your financial situation and if there is anything more that we can do to assist you.
  • After 4 months of use, you will be required to participate in mandatory classes such as budgeting or low budget cooking.
  • Any abuse to staff will result in being banned from use of the Food Bank for a 3-month period.
