The Bonnyville Friendship Centre is celebrating another incredible act of community kindness after students and families from Duclos Elementary School donated more than 750 boxes of cereal to the Friendship Centre Food Bank.

The donation was part of the school’s annual cereal drive led by Grade 1 teachers Mrs. Kathy Gibbons and Mrs. Jordan Piche. Students visited the Friendship Centre this week to deliver the cereal and learn more about how the food bank supports local families in need.

“We are incredibly grateful to the students, staff and families at Duclos Elementary School for their generosity and support,” said Sarah, Food Bank Coordinator and Program Assistant at the Bonnyville Friendship Centre. “Last year’s cereal donation helped keep our shelves stocked for months, and this year’s contribution will once again make a meaningful difference for families accessing the food bank.”

The initiative not only supports the food bank, but also helps teach students about kindness, teamwork and community involvement at an early age.

“This is what community is all about,” said the Bonnyville Friendship Centre. “Seeing young students step up to help others reminds us how important it is to continue teaching compassion, empathy and support for one another.”

The Bonnyville Friendship Centre would like to thank everyone involved in organizing, supporting and contributing to the cereal drive.

Community members wishing to support the Friendship Centre Food Bank can continue to donate year-round. Monetary donations are especially appreciated, as they allow the organization to purchase the items most needed at any given time.
